Healthy Ageing and Cruelty-Free!

We’re now expecting to live for longer thanks to all of the advancements in technology. Most of us may live to see our 100th birthday. Among all of the changes that this brings to society. It also brings changes for ourselves as to how do we do this with as much grace as possible. One way to achieve this can be looking after your skin.

We all know that the sun is our biggest enemy when it comes to ageing. The UVA and UVB rays can cause premature ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles. The best way to avoid this is by using sun cream every day (even when it’s grey and windy).

In addition to the regular use of sun cream, it’s also incredibly important to include antioxidants within your skincare routine. Antioxidants have been known to help protect your skin from the sun as well as the environment such as free radicals. Free radicals are particles that have an unstable outer shell. “They come from things like air pollutants, chemicals, and cigarette smoke, and they basically suck the life out of your face,” says dermatologist Mona Gohara, M.D., associate clinical professor at Yale University. This means that the particle searches for a spare electron to fill their outer shell. These electrons can come from anywhere such as the surface of your skin. Once the free radical has stolen an electron, it leaves the outer shell of the particle that it had been taken from, unstable. This can cause oxidative stress on your skin which leaves it drier and thus can cause premature ageing.

On top of looking after your skin, it’s also incredibly important to look after the world around us when using skincare. It has been known in the past that products have been tested on animals. However, at the moment, there is a movement towards getting rid of this process that isn’t trying any time soon.

The label cruelty-free given to a brand means that the brand hasn’t used any form of animal testing throughout the creation and production process. The creation process is when the product is first put together and tested and the production process is when it’s made on a larger scale. Both of these are crucial in getting products out to you!  In some countries, this isn’t 100% true, however European legislation guarantees that any product with this claim is accurate.

At Able Skincare, we avoid using certain ingredients and make sure that all of our products are NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS. We take part in the leaping bunny programme and are forever against animal testing.

This is the reason why our entire assortment is proudly certified by PETA Cruelty-Free International. This accreditation guarantees that our formulas are both free from animal derivatives and that both our finished products and raw materials are and have never been tested on animals.
